Graphika has been the source of inspiration and admiration of every creative in the Philippines. Celebrating its 15 years of cultivating creative minds through bringing the best gurus, Graphika 2020 has been the best year by far.
Hydra Design Group was tasked to create visuals from the ground up. We split up into groups of three for a fun & friendly design competition. Through numerous Poison Coffee brainstorming with highly intoxicating ideas, our team’s concept was able to present Graphika 20/20’s branding.

Since Graphika’s celebrating its 15-year anniversary, our concept is solely based on crystals which represents its anniversary gem. The year 2020 made an integral part by making the idea stronger through playing with the word 20/20 that popularly describes clear, clarity, and vision.
We wanted to play and explore the properties of a crystal that ties up with vision. We also got multiple visualizations to experiment with such as distortion, refraction, reflection, birefringence, and caustics.
My part here is to develop these visuals in 3D that shows clarity in vision.
Poster

These posters are the early stages of branding. Using the crystals facing together in Jo's poster layout,
we wanted explore how light and refractions distorts. These are the few early developments that we've worked on:
Later on, we moved on to a different route that shows crystals and its form with refractions and distortions.
Storyboard

Our general idea on how we go through the main title is to direct the visuals that tells vision. We wanted to present an idea that everything starts at a point somewhere. As we go through, we create a path for ourselves to give light, and bring it along with like-minded individuals with a clearer vision. Light played a huge factor on this concept and we studied how it refracted, bounces, and reflected to each crystal as it passes through.
